Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Warriors Group

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a wide array of heroes, and a gripping narrative showcasing celestial beings, demons, and sinister influences increasing in power within the city.

Warning: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed

Episode 3 concluded with a major cliffhanger and presented the premier party of heroes who will branch out from the primary party to undertake their own adventure, separate from the additional parties.

This warrior group features Teor Pridesire (played by the voice actor), the agile character (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie).

Why Split the Party?

With 13 cast members, it was clear from the beginning that maintaining everyone at one table would be impossible.

This explains, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before splitting into three distinct groups: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.

What Defines the Soldiers Table

Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged fight-heavy narrative style where diplomatic options are few and far between.

Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might appear out of place, but the events of the third episode show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the team understands precisely where to head next after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of Thjazi—whose passing started the story’s plot—used the enemy for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, striking the character, and stealing all the enchanted items to sell off.

The antagonist then cleared his obligations and fled to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.

Personal Motivations

Additionally, each character has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:

  • The rogue, as the close ally and best friend, desires retribution.
  • The adventurer has experience in Timmony and advises that it is a nasty place.
  • Tyranny and The healer, having defied his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead rescued him, have no other options.
  • But, their position as key figures in House Halovar could enable the group reach areas they normally couldn’t.
  • Moreover, The fighter vowed a life debt to The cleric for his rescue and will now go with him wherever.

Fugitives

In addition, all of them are hunted by the powers that govern the city for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:

  • The agile adventurer and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and The cleric betrayed the powerful family and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
  • The fighter is marked for death by the family.

This means them few options but to travel to Timmony in search of the antagonist.

Upcoming Developments

Based on episode three’s post-show segment, we learn that the warrior group will be absent the following episode, leaving the other eight players to assemble the Questers and Strategists parties.

Fans can look forward to learning which characters will be assigned to which table in the season’s concluding setup installment, released on the upcoming Thursday.
