The renowned publisher has secured a seasoned producer from the creators of Apex Legends to lead the studio crew at 31st Union, which is currently developing the forthcoming third-person action-packed title known as this innovative game.

Leadership Transition Comes After Mixed Reception

The new appointee takes on the leadership position at 31st Union following the exit of previous head Michael Condrey, who was reportedly let go due to the game's lackluster initial reveal last fall.

Recently, 2K president a key figure notified employees about this strategic move through an official communication, which stressed that early feedback sessions had revealed the necessity for a clearer game identity.

The president noted that the team is now refining Project Ethos with a renewed focus, aiming to address player expectations.

The news follows a comparable action taken by 2K Games in August, when they hired an industry veteran from Blizzard to contribute to the BioShock studio Cloud Chamber.

Dear Team—

I understand you all just finished your meeting - I hope you’re as thrilled as I am with the positive developments. Previously I sent you all a message, I expressed the following: “I believe in this group. You all are some of the most dedicated and innovative developers we have had the opportunity to work with - and we’re looking forward for that collaboration to continue.”

Through your commitment and adaptability, particularly over the past twelve months, you consistently demonstrate that.

The community feedback from last fall’s the game testing phase was enlightening. It confirmed the appeal of a roguelike shooter but told us we still had refinements needed. It highlighted the necessity for a sharper identity.

It has been motivating to see how far you’ve advanced. You accepted the criticism to heart and overhauled Project ETHOS with a refreshed direction - one that’s poised to achieve its ambition to our players.

The belief in Project ETHOS increases every day. To further the outstanding advancement you’ve made, I am thrilled to announce Ben Brinkman as the new Director of the team. After some time of discussions, Ben officially joins us on Monday, October 20.

Ben’s leadership and expertise in the competitive gaming space is vast, having spent the past decade and a half creating and overseeing some of the most recognizable franchises in the industry, for example the acclaimed shooter, and most recently, Apex Legends.

I invite you all in greeting Ben in the coming days. We are all eager to keep witnessing the development of the game in the weeks to come.

David
