Two Detentions Following Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

This incident caused the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park.

Two more people have been arrested in connection with a robbery at Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals sustained injuries by what is thought to be pepper spray, as stated by law enforcement.

A man, 24, was arrested in Lambeth on suspicion of theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. Both individuals are still being held, authorities confirmed.

These detentions come after an investigation into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the attack, two women had stolen from them their suitcases upon exiting a car park lift.

A three-year-old girl was one of the those hurt in the event. Five people went to hospital for treatment and were later discharged.

Officers detained a 31-year-old man for suspected robbery and assault near the scene. He has since been released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Authorities were alerted at approximately 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of several individuals hurt by a noxious substance believed to be pepper spray.

The attack - which police said was isolated and not being treated as an act of terror - caused train delays and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park briefly.
